I hate to say I told you so but…I TOLD YOU SO.

I’ve previously published two posts demanding the United States withdraw from Afghanistan immediately, for a variety of reasons. The most recent was in November of 2010 with this.

The first, not long before, is here:

I won’t rehash those pieces here in detail. You can read them if you like. But the reasons set forth in them are still applicable. I have been relentless in advocating withdrawal, both in additional comments in other of my blog entries and on other blogs.

Now within a span of a few months we have even more evidence that our time in Afghanistan has been and continues to be wasted. Far worse than wasted time is the wasted money, currently at the rate of over TWO BILLION FUCKING DOLLARS PER WEEK. (And people got so upset about half a billion one time loss in Solyndra or a couple hundred million yearly funding for Planned Parenthood).

Worst of all is the waste of human life whether it be to death, physical maiming, or the psychological scars created every day. Proof of this comes in part from the recent incidents I reference.

One group of marines was photographed pissing on the dead bodies of Taliban fighters.

Just a few weeks ago a number of holy Qur’ans were burned. Though evil intent may not have existed, the insensitivity of those who did this is unfathomable given what is known about the sensitivity of Muslims to perceived affronts, rational reactions or not.

Now we have an army sergeant going door to door and killing Afghan civilians and burning some of their bodies. Children were among the victims.

This atrocity speaks to either the mission induced insanity suffered by our troops or the pure callous disregard of the human beings inhabiting that “nation” by treating them as anything but human.

As of now the United States has plans to fully withdraw our troops in no less than two more years, sometime in 2014. Mr. President, I plead with you to end this absurd foreign excursion NOW.

Run, do not walk, to the nearest exits. Send all of our largest transport planes to bring our forces home. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, but go straight to home. Do not worry about equipment or other materiel left behind. Abandoning it is far cheaper than perpetuating this farce.

There is not one night since our invasion on October 7, 2001 that I have slept more soundly knowing our troops had been sent to do the impossible—move the Afghanis forward a thousand years into the sixteenth century. There is not one day since October 7, 2001 that I have awakened feeling safer and more secure in my home and nation than the day before.

Well, I have good friends who would disagree. LOL

I feel like a Johnny one note on this topic but it looks like it’s becoming a more popular opinion. Let’s see what Obama does.
